University of Kelaniya

  • Kelaniya University is the one of the best university in Sri Lanka.It is located in Dulugama. 
  • It was established as university of  Kelaniya in 1978. 
  • Motto of the University is self-purification is by insight.

                           


  •  Prof.Semasinghe Dissanayaka is the vice chancellor of the university. About 771 academic and 637 non-academic staffs are working. 
  • It has a several departments and faculties such as departments of Industrial Management and Micro biology in the faculty of science. 
  • Departments of Linguistics, Fine Arts, Modern Languages and Hindi in the Faculty of Humanities and Mass communication and Library and information sciences in the Faculty of Social Science.

                                            

  • It was 3rd in ranking among Sri Lankan Universities in 2017. 
  • They are several number of students intake to follow undergraduate courses such as Software engineering, Physical science, Physical science ICT, Management and Information Technology, Management, etc. There are Post graduate, Master, M.Phill programs conduct every year.  
  • It has good facilities, Laboratories, lecture hall for students and hostel facilities. In this University all lectures conduct in English Language.
  • The Faculty of Science started functioning in October 1967 with Prof. Charles Dahanayake as the Dean of Science. 
  • The faculty consists of eight departments. Department of Botany, Department of Chemistry, Department of Industrial Management, Department of Mathematics, Department of Microbiology, Department of Physics, Department of Statistics & Computer Science, Department of Zoology & Environmental Management.
  • The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Kelaniya is on campus at Ragama. It is one of eight medical schools in Sri Lanka.
  • The Faculty of Social Sciences, in student population, is the largest faculty in the University of Kelaniya.

                                     
  • The faculty includes disciplines associated with Buddhist and Asian cultures, such as Pali and Buddhist Studies, Sinhala, Tamil, Sanskrit, Hindi, Japanese and Chinese, while teaching courses in modern European languages such as English, French, German and Russian.
  • Faculty of Commerce and Management consists of five  departments. There are  Department of Commerce, Department of Accountancy, Department of Marketing Management, Department of Human Resource Management, Department of Finance.
  • Twenty-three postgraduate degree programmes and six postgraduate diploma programmes are coordinated by the Faculty of Graduates Studies.

                                     

  • The ICT Centre provides support services in IT-related teaching, research, internet services, staff development and hardware maintenance for the entire university
  • So many type of clubs are there. These are Sports Club, Gavel Club, Art Society, Inventors Club, Catholic Student Movement(CSM), AIESEC, Haritha Kawaya, Buddhist Students' Society.
  • There are many hostels allocated for selected students.Kiriwaththuduwe Sri Prangnasara Hostel for Clergy, C.W.W. Kannangara Boys' Hostel, Yakkaduwe Pannarama Boys' Hostel, Bandaranayake Girls' Hostel, Sangamitta Girls' Hostel, Viharamahadevi Girls' Hostel, Ediriweera Sarachchandra Girls' Hostel, E.W. Adikarama Girls Hostel, Gunapala Malalasekara Girls' Hostel, Hemachandra Rai Girls' Hostel,Soma Guna Mahal (External) Girls' Hostel, Bulugaha Junction (External) Girls' Hostel are there.

Expert game       Our madam divided into 5 different groups. Our group no is 4. Our group members  were Ashen, Dilan, Dinindu, Praneeth, Thadsaayini, Kesavan, Chambika, Rajeiha, Kavishna. After Dividing into groups each group have few numbers of students.every group's members should find their special talents and use them to create a service or product.  we decided to create a online ordering service for Traditional foods.
